The International Computer Science Olympiad (SOF ICSO) is an annual academic competition that SOF organizes for students in classes 1-10. This competition assesses their knowledge and skills in computers and information technology.

The SOF Olympiad curriculum aims to provide young students with a platform to identify and nurture their academic talents in the field of computers, thus preparing them for the competitive world from an early age. NEP prescribes Olympiads to facilitate the development of problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and cognitive skills in students.

SOF International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) Exam 2024-25 Overview:

Eligibility: Students from classes 1 – 10, enrolled in a school recognized by SOF, are eligible for ICSO.

  • Level 1 Exam Date 1: 20th December, 2024
  • Level 1 Exam Date 2: 21st January, 2025

Exam Mode: Offline

Fee of Registration: ₹ 125

International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) Eligibility Criteria:

Students from classes 1 – 10, enrolled in a school recognized by SOF, are eligible for the International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO). Students from particular classes can appear for that class’s Olympiad only. Apart from this, there are no other eligibility criteria.

How To Participate in the International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO):

Schools should apply and submit the form for the SOF International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) at least 30 days before the exam date. Students cannot submit their applications individually. Therefore, applications will only be submitted via the schools.

International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) Exam Dates:

The dates for the SOF International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) Level-1 are now available. Date 1 of SOF ICSO Level-1 is 20th December 2024, and Date 2 is 21st January 2025. There is no Level-2 examination for SOF ICSO.

International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) Awards/Scholarships/Recognition:

In the upcoming academic year 2024-25, winners of the SOF International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) will receive a range of ICSO awards and scholarships. These awards include international, zonal, and school topper awards for classes 1 to 10. The top three international rank holders will receive cash awards, medals, and certificates.

Additionally, zonal and school-level winners will also receive recognition. Schools and educators receive acknowledgment for their contribution to students’ success, with awards and scholarships at international, zonal, and district levels. Principals and teachers are also extended appreciation certificates and gifts for their dedication and efforts.

How To Prepare for the International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO):

The SOF International Computer Science Olympiad (ICSO) is a competitive exam that tests students’ knowledge and problem-solving skills in the field of computer science. To excel in this exam, one must prepare thoroughly and strategically. Here are some tips to help you prepare effectively:

  • Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and syllabus to understand the topics that will be covered in the exam.
  • Practice solving sample papers and previous years’ question papers to get a feel of the exam format and improve your problem-solving skills.
  • Enhance your understanding of programming languages, algorithms, data structures, and computer fundamentals through regular practice and study.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in the field of computer science through ICSO Olympiad books, online resources, and tutorials to broaden your knowledge base and stay ahead in the competition.

Registration of Students:

The SOF ICSO is open to students of classes one to ten. Prospectuses containing the registration forms are sent to all schools registered with SOF. Schools not registered may also request a prospectus by sending an e-mail to [email protected] or a phone call. Schools must return the registration forms to SOF, duly filled in and complete in all respects, by the due date.

Roll Numbers:

The school’s coordinating teacher should fill the School Registration Form (SRF) and Students’ Registration Sheet (SRS) as per the guidelines given and send them to the SOF’s office before the due date of submission of forms. SOF will register the applicant school and the students as per the Students’ Registration Sheet (SRS) received from the school, and will generate roll numbers for all students.

Examination Centre:

The Foundation will register the applicant school and the students and dispatch question papers and guidelines for conducting the examination. Principals and teachers should note that any school can be registered as a center for SOF ICSO. No fee is required from the institution to become a registered examination center.

Exam Dates:

The SOF ICSO is conducted on two dates. Each school may select a date for conducting the SOF ICSO as per its convenience. Each date of the exam has a separate question paper. Change of date for conducting SOF ICSO is not permitted.

Individual Registrations:

Students should register through their respective schools only. Individual registrations by students are not accepted.

Registration Fee:

Schools in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal pay SOF a registration fee of Rs 125 (including GST) per student/Olympiad towards the cost of examination. Schools may charge an additional Rs 25 per student towards the honorarium of the in-charge, remuneration to teachers to teach and guide, and other expenses. No fee is payable for students suffering from any major physical disability or an Indian student whose parent was martyred during defense operations. The registration fee for students from other countries is US$9, with an additional US$1 charged by schools for other expenses.

The SOF International Computer Science Olympiad Paper:

The respective schools organize the test during school hours.

(i) The paper contains 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for classes 1 to 4 and 50 questions for classes 5 to 10, making it a 60-minute objective-type test.

(ii) The question paper consists of four sections – Logical reasoning, Computer Science, Information technology, Achiever’s section.

(iii) Each date of the exam has separate question papers.

(iv) The medium of the test is English.

(v) CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabi are followed for setting the test papers.

(vi) The exam is conducted during school hours.
